i owe you by muimuic i owe you by muimuic
......................................................um
it's been a while guys, i'm sorry. i've been busy in school.
i guess i owe you one and this has been so past due for me. i was katniss from the hunger games for halloween and i made this pin to go with the costume.
the pin is made of model magic, gold acrylic paint, and a pin i ripped off from a button. it didn't take me too long to make, maybe about two hours or so.

if you have not read the hunger games by suzanne collins yet, then i totally recommend this book. also, as you know, the hunger games movie premiers march, 23 2012 and i am going to go watch it wearing this pin cause i'm such a nerd.

check out the trailer, i'll link it here: [link]

now i'm going to stop rambling. it's been a while, let me get back on task.

the hunger games(c) suzanne collins
and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Pretty cool medallion.

Though I cant say I liked the books a whole lot... Smells like a new twilight saga to me...

thanks! but i have to disagree with you on the twilight saga part. i never liked the twilight saga i read up to the third book, then never felt it was worth to read the fourth. however, the hunger games is completely different. yeah, there's a love triangle, but that is not the main plot. the hunger games is about how the Capitol oppresses the districts and how they revolted against them. though i still respect your opinion.

Its more about an angsty girl and how she becomes the symbol for a rebellion against said capitol. The only reason I compare it to twilight is because the plot rages on forever (could have been easily two books) and an angsty girl with two guys fighting for her.
Suzanne Collins needs to work on the way she writes a little (I'm not saying I could do better but.)

I really do like the medallion though. The process on creation I would interested in. Just the process in general..not necessarily this particular design.

of course you can't blame her from being angsty with what she has to deal with. but whatever i'll leave it at that. i can agree with you that i am not a fan of twilight either.
thanks anyway for your feedback. :) i can tell you the process if you like...

Pff...writers. So dramatic. We artists...we just commit suicide or cut off our ears when WE are depressed...not make others suffer for it. XD *sarcasm*

I just wish it didn't become such a fad that it...blech...just yeah.

Sure... If you don't mind. I would like that.

well i think i mentioned in the description that i used model magic. i didn't have any polymer clay, which now that i think about it, it may have made the pin more durable. So i took a white clay and rolled it into a small ball to form the head. then, by pinching one end of the ball, i molded that into the beak. i set that aside and started on the body. i rolled a larger ball and shaped what should be the neck and on the opposite end what should be where the tail connects. to make the wings, i rolled two balls of clay and shaped it into almost what looks like deformed triangles. The tail was another triangle with a curve in the base. then, i put all the parts together and formed the bird. adding the details took the longest. i started with adding in the feathers for the wings, by rolling tiny pieces of clay and layering them on top of each other. finally, i used a toothpick to poke the eyes and add the lines for the tail feathers. i then took a piece of wire and wrapped it in clay, attached a small triangle for the arrow head and put in the feathers at the end of the arrow. then, i attached the arrow under the bird's beak. i made a ring of clay behind the bird and let it dry for a couple of days. when it was completely dry, i painted over a few coats of gold acrylic paint and let it dry again. then, i glazed it over and crazy glued a pin from a button i ripped it off of. And that was the whole process.
